POSSIBLE PHILA BEALE ANCESTORS-

1)- WILLIAM BEALE (1709-1800) , born in Calne, Wiltshire, England, came to Chester County PA & settled in West Whiteland. He married 1) in 1734 Mary Jenkin and 2) in 1774 Mrs Rachel Lewis, widow of Phineas Lewis of East Caln.

His son David Beale 1745-1828 married Rachel McConnell (born 1760), dau of Alexander & Rachel McConnell. Any relation to Matthew McConnell who rented GB’s land in 1769? (see GB’s will).

WB a Quaker.
WB had a son William Beale Jr born 1738-died after 1800--among other children--no George mentioned.

WB’s sister Susannah Beale married William Hinton. The Hinton’s neighbor in Phila in 1756 was Robert Lowry. Was this the same Robert Lowry who was on Nicholas Tuite’s plantation on St Croix in 1768? Wm Hinton died in 1757, and Wm Beale administered his estate. The admin names the following: Thos Hinton brother, Henry Harrison, merchant (Phila slave Trader), Abel James -merchant, Thos Smith- merchant (there was a Thos, James & Joseph Smith in F’sted 1782, along with Townsend White. This Joseph Smith was linked to Isaac Barnes of Trenton & St Croix.), Jas Humphrey (on Mary Beale’s 1804 will), John White (brother of Townsend in St Croix?), James Chattin, Joseph Saul, Thos Bond (on Basil Feast will with GB), Joseph Galloway (Neighbor of Thos Riche, friend of Thos Livezey), Chas Norris & Wm Griffith (they both linked to Capt John Kidd- smuggler-PA Gaz. I noted Wm Griffith died 1736 mar Mary Carter, possible link to Tuites of Antigua, London-p.28 Jamaica file). THE PEOPLE NAMED IN THE HINTON ESTATE ADMINISTERED BY WM BEALE HAD MANY POSSIBLE ST CROIX LINKS.WERE THE HINTONS ON ST CROIX (SEE X ) RELATED TO WM HINTON?

Wm Beale was a very rich man, in his 1800 will he owned three 200+ acre farms in Chester Co, PA.

2)- JOHN BEALS (1650-1726) came to PA with William Penn and married in 1682 Mary Clayton, dau of William & Prudence Clayton. Beals owned land on Chester Creek in what appears to be the current city of Chester. He settled in the Nottingham lots in Chester Co. His son Wm born 1687 married in New Garden. His son Jacob born 1689 married in New Garden. His dau Patience born 1695 married in New Garden.

Minutes of Quaker New Garden monthly meetings show Wm Beals attending in 1721, and Jacob Beals in 1736.THIS PLACES THE JOHN BEALS FAMILY IN NEW GARDEN PRIOR TO GEORGE BEALE BUYING LAND THERE IN 1768.

James Brown
married in 1679 Honour, another of the Clayton daughters. James Brown & John Beals were brothers in law. James Brown’s great grandson was Elijah Brown, who was a witness to Mary Beale’s (widow of George) land deed in Phila in 1782.(see J)
A James Brown (relative of above?) signs 1783 indenture to sell off part of GB’s land
( GB land deed 1768 - see G)
Wm Beal lived on Valley Rd Hockessin DE (just below GB’s land) in an 1810 census, surrounded by Springers & Dixons. Was Wm a member of the John Beals family???

(PHILA II -1991 file) (Pop’s New Garden file) (Quaker blue file)

3)- WILLIAM BEALE (1667-1714) born County of Gloucester, England, came to Bucks Co PA in 1685. He bought land in Bensalem--and went to Byberry Quaker Meeting. On his death in 1714 -he left 225 acres of land in Buckingham Twp Bucks Co to son Alexander, & 325 acres same Twp to son John.

Son Alexander had a son William, grandson Joseph (1747-1794), & great grand daughter Hannah Beal (1783-1832) who in 1806 married John Dixon (1783-1839), GRANDSON OF Rebecca Dixon (died 1787), who sold GB his land in 1768.
WERE GEORGE BEALE & HANNAH BEAL RELATED??? GB’s family in the New Garden area 1768-1785, if not longer. Dixons lived there for many years too.

KITH & KIN- DIXON FAMILY- Willis Milnor Dixon-1922 (new NEHGS file)
THE PENNSYLVANIA COURIER TRAVELER POST- Feb 1990-Wm Beall family of Bucks County ( Phila folder-SANDS-2/28/90)
SUPPOSITION file 6/90

I NOTED A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH HANNAH BEAL’S PARENTS LINEAGE- The William Beall of Bucks Co 1990 article states that Joseph Beall born Buckingham 14 Oct 1747 married Hannah Russell, removed with his family to Fairfax MM, Loudon Co, VA in 1785, he died 27 Sep 1794. Their children were: Thos, Eliz, Grace & Samuel- no Hannah named.
The Willis M Dixon 1922 article states Joseph Beal born 14 Oct 1747 in Buckingham, that he died 16 August 1809-10 in Columbiana, OH. He married in Buckingham 12 May 1773 Hannah Russell (b1750 Buckingham-d 6 Dec 1832 Columbiana)--their children: Thos, Sarah, Martha, Hannah, Rachel.
JOSEPH BEAL( MAR HANNAH RUSSELL) HAS DIFFERENT DEATH DATES & PLACES + DIFF KIDS (EXCEPT THOS)--POSSIBLY THE 1922 ARTICLE IS WRONG, COULD JOSEPH & HANNAH (?) BE FROM THE NEW GARDEN AREA ? MAYBE JOSEPH IS DESCENDED FROM JOHN BEALS (1650-1726) ??
