BOSTON-
11)- Boston- Recent data from Henry Hoff at NEHGS has added yet
another version. This hangs on the supposition that many of George Beales,
or son Johns, friends are from Boston. Here is what has been discovered
to date:
a)- Cornelius & his brother Thomas Durant were born in Boston. Cornelius
married Richard Hunts widow. Her grandson Cornelius Hunt was a witness
to John Beales 1802 will (see K). Was Henry Hunt (see D- Geo Beale a witness
to his 1762 will) a relative of the Boston Hunts ??? We note the 2nd wife of
Cornelius Durant was Mary Fenno. Was Mary a relative of John Fenno, exor to
John Beale (see K)??
We understand Thomas Durant married Richard Hunts sister.
b)- In 1764, John Beal (sic?) mentioned in connection with the Bradshaw Plantation,
living on Strand Street (See D). Beal is living with Thomas Durant, a next door
neighbor is Nicholay Tuite
c)- 1758- Richard Hunt owner with Christopher McEvoy of plantation Company Qtr
29. That same year, Henry Hunt owner of Prince Qtr 58 & 39. Again, were
Richard & Henry brothers???
d)- 1768- Cornelius Durant handling the accounts of the Newport slave ship-
Schooner ADVENTURE, Joseph Tillinghast, master. In later years, the Beales marry
into the Tillinghast family from Newport.
HENRY HOFF CHECKING THE DURANT GENEALOGY FOR ANY MENTIONS OF BEALES OR HENRY
OR THOS HUNT ( SISTER DOROTHY CLARK ? ) HE IS ALSO CHECKING GEORGE HARRIS (
exor to Henry Hunt will- see D ).
COGGSWELL CONNECTION-
1)- Cornelius Durant and brother Thomas Durant's great grandmother was Hannah
Coggswell (1624-1704) of Essex, MA. Ancestor Beale lived with Thomas Durant
on St Croix in 1764 (see above).
2)- George Beale 1756 will mentions Edward Coggswell of Essex, MA as witness
(see Scenario 13- Two Brothers).
3)- Mathew Beale marries in 1738 Hannah Coggswell b. 1719 Essex, MA (see Scenario
13- Two Brothers).
