NEW---TWO BROTHERS FROM KENT, ENGLAND

I want to thank Lynell Beale Marshall for this find. Lynell has tirelessly chased down many details.
This find is very significant because it builds upon the VA scenario--see P - 1
Here are some of the details Lynell found:

BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF HON. CHARLES L. BEALE, From The History of Columbia County,
By Capt. Franklin Ellis, 1878

Charles L. Beale was born on the 5th of March, 1824, in the town of Canaan, Columbia county, New York. His paternal ancestors, consisting of two brothers by the name of Beale, came originally from England; one of them settled in western Massachusetts, whence he subsequently removed to Connecticut; the other in Westmoreland county, Virginia, at a place named Bealeton, after the family. He became the head of the Beale family of the south, and the ancestor of General Beale, who, while lieutenant, became noted as an explorer in connection with the United States survey, and owned extensive tracts of land in California. General Beale was late minister plenipotentiary to the court of Vienna.
(General Beale was descended from George Beale of St Croix)

FACTORS IN COLUMBIA COUNTY HISTORY From Columbia County at the End of the Century,Volume II, Published
and Edited Under the Auspices of the Hudson Gazette, The Record Printing and Publishing Co.,Hudson, New York, 1900.

BEALE, Charles F. T., of Hudson, was born in Kinderhook, N. Y., June 15, 1857, one of the many prominent sons of Columbia county, whose birthplace was the storied old town. The family of Beale is traced in England back to 1350, and in this county to George Beale, who emigrated from County Kent, England, to Willington, Conn., in 1725. Capt. Mathew Beale, one of his descendants, settled in Spencertown in 1795; he had served in the Revolutionary War and later in life was...

Lynell located the Beale who founded Bealeton, VA:

Lynell supplied a partial 1756 will (part of will is lost) Stafford Springs, CT--Probate Book 1, page 67
"...of Hampshier in ye Province of ye Massachusetts Bay in New England..."
"Will of George Beale"
"...Mary my beloved wife..."
"...Mary the wife of my son William Beale..." (names 7 others, presumably Wm's children--Rebecca, Elizabeth, William, George, Hannah, Rachell, Mathew).
"Hannah the wife of my son Mathew Beale, his daughters Hannah & Mary, Sarah, Eunice, Susanah".
Sons William & Mathew divide his land in Willington, Susquehannah or elsewhere.
Witnesses---Isaac Averill, Edward Coggswell, Moses Averill

Inventory of estate of George Beale of Willington, CT dated 7 April 1761

Evan discovered that Matthew Beale (born ca 1719) married ca 1738 Hannah Coggswell (b 1719), dau of Edward Coggswell (1686-1773). The Coggswells were from the massive Coggswell grant (home still stands) in Essex, MA.

Evan checked LDS file for George Beale (b. 1 May 1670 in Marblehead, MA, d. 23 Jan 1691), his father was William Beale, (b. 1633/34 of Marblehead, MA-D. 1694), his father was John Beale (b. 1579 Biddenden, Kent, England).
William Beale's brother was Thomas Beale (b. 1624 Biddenden, Kent), his father was John Beale (b. 1579 Biddenden, Kent).
WAS THE THOMAS BEALE BORN 1624 BIDDENDEN, KENT THE THOMAS BEALE WHO BOUGHT LAND IN YORKTOWN, VA IN 1645? (See P-1 Virginia).
WAS GEORGE BEALE (b. 1675-d. 1760 Willington, CT) NEPHEW OF THOMAS OF VA?
Problems---
1)- GB birth dates differ from Lynell's findings (Lynell 1675, LDS 1670). Also, LDS has GB dying in 1691, Lynell in 1760.
2)- Does my GB spring from the MA/CT branch, or the VA branch?

The TWO BROTHERS FROM KENT scenario is tantalizing in that Capt Franklin Ellis published it in 1878.

COGGSWELL CONNECTION-
1)- Cornelius Durant and brother Thomas Durant's (see Scenario 11---BOSTON)
great grandmother was Hannah Coggswell (1624-1704) of Essex, MA. Ancestor Beale lived with Thomas Durant on St Croix in 1764.
2)- George Beale 1756 will mentions Edward Coggswell of Essex, MA as witness (see above).
3)- Mathew Beale marries in 1738 Hannah Coggswell b. 1719 Essex, MA (see above).
